St. John Vianney Seminary is hiring for a housekeeper. The Housekeeper is responsible for keeping the McCarthy House and Resident Clergy Suites clean and orderly. The Housekeeper will perform a variety of essential janitorial assignments. Actions are generally determined by specific instructions from the supervisor or by following well-defined procedures, methods, and practices. The Housekeeper performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami.
Essential Functions include:
- Clean and supply restrooms in the McCarthy House. These duties include but are not limited to sweeping, mopping, replenishing soap, paper products, cleaning mirrors and bathroom stalls.
- Clean Resident Priests suites. These duties include but are not limited to sweeping, mopping, dusting furniture with treated dust cloths, maintaining order, and cleaning on a regular weekly basis.
- Commit to putting the customer first and consistently delivering the best service possible; building productive customer relationships.
- Safety Awareness: Proactively identify and correct conditions that affect people's safety; compliance with safety standards.
- Sweep, vacuum, and mop floors in the McCarthy House.
- Gather and dispose of trash and waste materials by hand.
- Observe appearance and condition of premises and applicable equipment; report needed repairs, safety hazards, or conditions requiring outside vendor services.
- Dust common areas and all items such as blinds, furniture, and windowsills using treated cloths or hand cleaning items.
- Wash walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, mirrors, and fixtures using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges or squeegees (using a step ladder when applicable).
- Clean rooms, hallways, bathrooms and other areas of the McCarthy House.
- Clean area rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and/or draperies, using vacuum cleaners and/or shampooers.
- Sweep and mop tile floors.
- Empty wastebaskets and transport to outside trash cans.
- Dust and polish furniture.
- Keep storage areas/linen closets/ kitchen pantry clean and tidy.
- Dust window blinds, ceiling fans and woodwork weekly.
- Wash windows as needed.
- Change bed linens weekly (or as directed).
- Sort clothing and other articles, load washing machines, iron and fold dried items.
- Wash dishes, clean kitchen including any cooking utensils and silverware.
- Purchase groceries and household supplies to keep kitchen stocked. Purchases must be made in a cost-conscious manner.
- Demonstrates continuous effort to evaluate and improve conditions, situations and processes, both incrementally and significantly.
- Other assignments as directed by Rector/President and/or Assistant Administrator.
Qualifications:
- High-school diploma or G.E.D.
- Valid FL driver license and automobile insurance
- Good oral and written English-language communication skills.
- Knowledge of standard methods, practices, tools, and equipment of the housekeeping service.
- Troubleshooting skills: Determining causes of errors and making related decisions.
- Active listening skills in what others are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
- Performing physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
- Direct physical activity may be required to operate machines or processes.
- Must be able to stand for significant periods of time.
- Must be able to lift and move objects up to 10 pounds.
- Ability to work outdoors as required, in a hot and humid environment.
- Compliance with use of required personal protective clothing, according to task.
- Requires using household chemical cleaners.
- Works in high places.
- Must conduct affairs with confidentiality and discretion.
