Position Summary
The primary function of the OPS Custodial Worker is to perform work maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and disinfection of the facility. The incumbent must be able to document clearly and ensure that documentation is completed as required. Must be able to complete Employee Activity Reports and timesheets electronically on a weekly basis. Must complete all required trainings by required date. Assists in maintaining adequate supplies and submitting need for purchase of these supplies on an as needed basis. Must maintain custodial closet in an orderly fashion.
Notify supervisor of any work orders that need to be submitted immediately. Complete required documents (supply requisition, etc.) as necessary. Notify supervisor and/or management immediately of any areas of concern.
The employee shall provide janitorial services as described below for Madison CHD. Janitorial services shall be performed outside normal business hours. Our normal business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Janitorial staff will carry personal photo identification and ID Badge provided by Madison CHD any time they are in the facility. Only persons with the provided ID Badge shall be in the building providing services.
TASKS:
Madison CHD consists of 13,280 square feet. The flooring is carpet (approximately 7,968 sq. ft.) and vinyl composition tile flooring (approximately 5,312 sq. ft.). There are 7 restrooms with grout tile flooring, 10 exam rooms, 3 labs, and 1 kitchen area. The remaining area is office and lobby space.
3 TIMES PER WEEK (M,W,F or T,Th,F
Lobby, Foyer, Vestibule, Hallways
- Sweep and mop tile floors with disinfectant
- Vacuum all carpeted areas
- Dust
- Disinfect all Lobby tables / counters / seats
Glass doors, Windows, Light switch plates
- Clean all light switch plates, entrance reception windows and doors with cleaner
Restrooms, Specimen Room, Showers and Labs
- Sweep and mop floors with disinfectant
- Clean and disinfect all sinks; counter tops; urinals; toilet seats, bowls, light receptacles and door handles
- Polish mirror and metal fixtures
- Clean restroom partition and walls
- Refill paper towel, bathroom tissue, seat covers and soap dispensers
Water Fountains
- Clean and sanitize water fountains
- Fountain surface will be free of streaks, film, spots and mildew; metal parts will be clean and bright
Facility Trash (Inside & outside of building)
- Empty and wipe trash receptacles inside and outside the facility
- Empty all trash bins throughout the building
- Replace liner as needed inside and outside the facility Place trash in dumpster behind Main CHD building
Exterior:
- Sweep all outer concrete entrance, steps and walkways
1 TIME PER WEEK
Offices, Conference Room, Kitchen, Lobby, Foyer, Vestibule, Hallways
- Dust surfaces including desktops, bookcases and file cabinets – (for computer equipment use only electronic dusting product)
- Disinfect all tables / counters / seats
- Sweep and mop all LVT floors with PH Neutral floor cleaner as per cleaner directions i.e. 2 ounces per one gallon of water. Use flat microfiber mop heads.
- Wash green microfiber mop heads in DOH washing machine, hang or air dry.
- Spot clean carpeted areas
1 TIME PER MONTH – CHD to be given date each month of when this will be done.
Inside of building
- Clean and dust: Walls, doors, ceilings, ledges, windowsills, receptacles, light fixtures, Exhaust vent, Ceiling Tiles around all vents.
- Clean inside of windows - (CHD to be given dates of when this will be completed each month)
- Sweep outside of food locker
THE CHD WILL PROVIDE:
Madison CHD shall furnish cleaners, vacuum cleaner, mops, brooms, hand-soap, paper towels, toilet tissue, plastic trash can liners, etc. needed to preform janitorial duties.
DAMAGES:
The employee shall use care to prevent damage to structures, vehicles and property inside and outside building. The employee shall be responsible for any damages caused by them.
WORK SCHEDULE – Other than scheduled days:
Madison CHD may ask the employee to adjust their scheduled workdays in preparation for any special or unscheduled visitors that the department may have throughout the year.
Qualifications
Minimum:
Must be willing to work after hours and one day during the weekend.
Preferred:
Custodial/janitorial experience preferred.
“Handyman” experience a plus
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Knowledge of: Safety measures for using and storing cleaning supplies.
Ability to: To perform basic housekeeping duties.
