Position Summary:
Performs the day-to-day activities of the Laundry Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing our facility, and as may be directed by the Administrator, Director or Supervisor.
Responsibilities:
Collects, sorts, weighs, counts, and washes soiled laundry, linen, garments, etc. and places in appropriate containers or assigned areas.
Folds, stacks, and hangs clean laundry, linen, garments, etc. daily and/or as instructed.
During emergency conditions, assures that clean laundry, linen, garments, etc. are distributed to designated areas as instructed.
Demonstrates proper cleaning procedures to assure meeting facility and state regulations.
Ensures that an adequate supply of laundry/linen is maintained in laundry/linen closets to meet the daily needs of the residents.
Keeps supervisor informed of supply needs.
Keeps work areas free of hazardous conditions (i.e. spills, excess laundry carts, baskets, supplies, equipment, etc.) and keep clean.
Assists others in lifting heavy equipment, supplies, etc. as directed or requested.
Report all hazardous conditions or equipment to supervisor (i.e. malfunctions or breakdowns).
Ensures that infection control and universal precautions practices are maintained when performing laundry procedures.
Uses appropriate personal protective equipment and supplies when handling infectious materials and follow policy for disposal.
Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
