Redwood Parks Conservancy (a nonprofit organization who partners with public land agencies) is seeking multiple Park Store Sales Associates in the beautiful Redwood National and State Parks. We have a position available at Thomas H. Kuchel and Prairie Creek Visitor Center. This position provides support for the Summer and Fall Season 2024.
This is a temporary position in a drug-free, smoke-free workplace. The position will work up to 40 hours per week, up to 120 days potentially. The position is in accordance with Redwood Parks Conservancy Employee Handbook, Conditions of Employment.
Locations include Thomas H. Kuchel and Prairie Creek Visitor Center within Redwood National and State Parks in Orick, CA.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Enthusiastically and proactively greets all visitors entering the visitor center.
2. Maintain a clean, safe, and professional retail space, including janitorial cleaning duties. 3. Restock merchandise from storage areas onto the sales floor.
4. Maintain and adhere to proper procedures as directed by the Retail District Manager.
5. Constant communication with the Retail District Manager regarding all issues concerning product status, levels, quality, and distribution.
6. Properly use a Point-of-Sale system to ring up sales for park visitors.
7. Answer visitor questions about the park and retail products.
8. Always interact in a positive and professional manner with park partners from Redwood National and State Parks, as well as visitors and other employees that you interact with on a daily basis. 9. Participates in active selling of products by proactively engaging visitors to help them make a purchase.
10. Answers phone calls in a professional manner.
11. Close daily sales and prepare closing paperwork.
12. Performs other duties as assigned by the Retail South District Manager.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
1. Excellent interpersonal skills and professional demeanor; strong ability to work effectively with all levels of management, staff, park partners, visitors, and all suppliers.
2. Knowledge of Redwood National and State Parks.
3. Ability to work independently, in a team environment with minimal supervision at times. 4. Ability to proactively engage visitors with the intent to promote sales and provide information. 5. Willing to work in an ever-changing environment, in order to meet changing demands. 6. Willing to work varied hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays if needed. 7. Ability to be highly dependable and at work on time.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
1. Able to sit or stand for several hours at a time.
2. Able to constantly kneel, bend, and twist in order to move product in a store setting. 3. Able to pull, push, or carry objects weighing up to 40 lbs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Ability to meet the physical abilities noted above.
2. Previous retail experience is highly desired.
3. Must be 18 years of age or older.
