Position Overview
The PCBA Solder Technician is a pivotal member of our PCBA manufacturing team, responsible for a diverse array of tasks ranging from hand soldering operations to collaboration with vendors and interfacing with customers on technical matters. Reporting directly to the PCBA Process & Production Supervisor/Manager, this role requires a combination of technical expertise, attention to detail, and effective communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Hand Soldering Operations: Execute a variety of electronic or electro-mechanical assembly operations on assemblies or sub-assemblies, including intricate hand soldering of components to conform to specifications and build schedules. This includes both Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and through-hole components.
- Reflow Profiles and SMT Programming: Proficiency in creating reflow profiles, working with stencil vendors to create tooling for SMT, and creating SMT programs are essential aspects of this role.
- Additional Assembly Skills: Knowledge of hand soldering through-hole components, screen printing with the screen print machine, and setting up feeders/trolleys are required capabilities for this position.
- Documentation and Reporting: Utilize Office suite software for meticulous documentation and reporting of lab results, including any non-conformance issues or discrepancies encountered during the assembly process.
- Adherence to Safety Protocols: Demonstrate strict adherence to safety protocols, particularly while handling chemicals and using personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary.
- Interpersonal Communication: Exhibit strong interpersonal skills, maintaining a professional and respectful demeanor while interacting with colleagues, vendors, and customers. The ability to articulate technical aspects of PCBA to customers is essential.
- Continuous Improvement: Proactively engage in team activities aimed at enhancing safety, quality, and process efficiency. Participate in problem-solving initiatives to achieve effective resolutions.
- Collaboration with stencil vendors to create tooling for SMT and setup of equipment for assembly per process specifications.
- Inspection of products for quality assurance and support for shipping processes as directed.
- Safe and proper use of grease, cleaning solvents, epoxy, and other related compounds.
- Flexibility to work overtime as needed to meet customer demands and production schedules.

- Quality: Ensure 100% compliance with customer/project specifications.
- On-Time Performance: Maintain 100% adherence for key customers and >98% for all others.
- Cost: Operate within or below budgeted costs for products/services and operations.
- Communications: Ensure timely, specific, and complete communication.
- Physical Requirements:
- While the role is not physically demanding, it involves working in an environment with soldering fumes and cleaning solvents. Adherence to safety practices, including the use of appropriate safety equipment, is imperative. Additionally, proficiency in using a microscope for soldering operations and quality evaluations is necessary.
Experience, Education, and Skills:
- General production and safety lab experience, preferably four (4) years or more.
- Minimum of two (2) years experience in PCB solder hand assembly, repair, and replacement of SMT and through-hole parts.
- Familiarity with IPC A 610H standards and military specifications related to PCBA acceptance or rejection criteria.
- Preferably hold current certification of IPC A 610H; recertification will be supported by the organization if required.
- High School diploma is preferred but not mandatory.
- Engineering background preferred, particularly experience with X-ray and AOI machines.
- Fluency in English (spoken and written) is required.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
