What You'll Be Doing
The Production Technician I, Packaging, is a Salaried Non-Exempt position which contributes to our mission of saving and sustaining lives by maintaining line operations to meet safety, quality and production goals.
- Assure line is set up with proper materials per the Bill of Material (BOM), verify batch documents are correct per filling schedule and documents are maintained inside appropriate batch folder.
- Load and replenish production supplies (i.e. Enhanced Closures, Barcode & Hot Stamp Foil, Bags from Kiefel, Rollstock for Autopouching, Overpouch,stretch wrap, hot melt glue sticks, Sterilizer Trucks, etc.) at a rate consistent with production needs and as needed by use of a powered industrial truck or lift.
- Determine staffing requirements to meet the production schedule and adjust staffing accordingly throughout the shift to meet plant goals.
- Initiate batch and exception documents as required needed.
- Perform production related task per appropriate procedure and verify all entries were documented correctly during your shift. Execute Batch/Code changes as well as sublots when assigned.
- Perform required quality checks per appropriate Packing SOP and document results in Assemble Pack or appropriate batch documents.
- Perform equipment Pre-Flight checks and /or Daily Walk-Arounds if applicable.
- Working with the Production Technician 2 and/or maintenance, monitor all line equipment operations to optimize line performance.
- Ensure assigned Preventative Maintenance (PM) task for line equipment is completed on time. If required, support Production Technician 2 and/or Maintenance on departments PM tasks.
- Document equipment issues in Virtual Maintenance for production tracking and daily shift notes, is needed.
- Document equipment adjustments in the Batch Maintenance of Major Equipment in Assemble Pack per the Assemble Pack manual and appropriate Packing SOP.
- Perform the job duties of other line personnel while relieving for breaks, if applicable. (Supporting batch change process on other lines…etc.)
- Communicate with the Filling Line when situations arise that may affect quality, process scrap and/or daily production.
- Maintain the Packing area in an audit ready state by using 6S principles daily.
- Verify all cleaning is completed per area standard work manual.
- Notify supervision and take appropriate action when a safety, quality, mechanical or personnel issue is identified immediately upon detection.
- Complete monthly inventory counts on corrugate and direction sheet materials if applicable.
- Document daily production and equipment issues in shift notes if applicable.
- Enter daily production, labor hours, and verified entries for accuracy into the appropriate computer management system (NAMFGERP… etc.) and document information on the Packing Worksheet to be placed in accounting at the end of the shift.
- Ensure all personnel performed tasks on your line are properly trained, certified, and/or qualified.
- Train new PTI’s on responsible processes.
What You'll Bring
- High School Diploma or GED and must be least 18 years of age.
- Possess or be able to obtain Worksaver Operator Certification and Inspector Certification.
- Production Technician or manufacturing experience with duties including preventative maintenance, machine troubleshooting, etc. preferred.
- Basic English written and oral communication skills adequate to communicate with other team members.
- Understand verbal and written safety and quality instructions and read and comprehend written work instructions including words and drawings.
- Ability toperform basic mathematics.
- Proficient in how to use a calculator and measurement tools as well as basic hand tools.
- Basic computer skills.
- Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
- Normal reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, stooping, manual dexterity, and visual acuity required.
- Must be able to squat, climb, reach above shoulder level, reach at or below shoulder level, twist and bend at the neck, twist and bend at the waist and balance.
