POSITION SUMMARY:
This position has primary responsibility for the safe and proper operation of the Waterside splash pad, general park grounds and facilities maintenance. In addition, roadway and common area sweeps, general routine maintenance tasks, equipment preventative maintenance, and support to the Stewardship District, and other miscellaneous tasks as they occur.
SCHEDULE: Tuesday through Saturday 7am to 3:30 pm, half an hour lunch, and other hours as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Maintain the Waterside splash pad facility cleanliness, safe and proper operation.
- Water quality of the facility, through continuous water testing and correction when needed.
- Maintain disinfectant, pH, water balance levels in compliance with health dept. standards.
- Maintain the required and necessary records for the operation of the facility.
- Ensure adequate supplies are maintained for proper operation of the facility.
- Monitoring mechanical equipment required for water circulation and disinfection.
- Shutdown and secure facility in event of biohazard or equipment malfunction.
- Implement biohazard cleanup, water quality testing and facility reopening procedures.
- Promptly report equipment failures and repair needs.
- Maintenance of park and related facilities.
- Operate machinery such as utility ATVs, small engine powered landscape maintenance equipment, light-duty tractors, and power hand tools.
- Sarasota Sector roadway and common area sweeps.
- Bi-monthly sand volleyball court maintenance.
- Park equipment repair and maintenance.
- Assure company safety guidelines and procedures are followed.
- Interact with park visitors in a positive, professional manner.
- Assist with maintenance, record keeping, inventory and storage of company equipment.
- Assist with implementation of equipment repairs.
- Take pride in work performed and produce a high-quality product.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Preferred to have or obtain certification as a Florida Public Pool Specialist (FPPS).
- Preferred to have or obtain Red Cross CPR, First Aid, and AED training.
- Competent in the use of basic water testing tools and operation of water circulation equipment.
- Ability to listen, understand and follow instruction.
- Prior experience with pool facilities or a variety of maintenance tasks.
- Knowledge to utilize the proper equipment to perform the required task.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently as well as with a partner.
- Valid Florida driver’s license
- Basic computer and smart phone abilities (text, email, etc.)
- Operation of small equipment
- Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing.
- Must be highly motivated and able to work independently.
- Must be courteous and helpful to park visitors.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work primarily performed in the outdoor environment, exposed to hot, cold, damp and dirty conditions.
