BASIC FUNCTION
Position assists Director of Environmental Services with the maintenance and cleaning of the building and grounds.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Clean resident rooms and common areas of facility.
2. Perform general maintenance such as painting and patching walls, hang pictures, curtains and blinds.
3. Assist with larger projects as directed by the Director of Environmental Services.
4. Replace light bulbs as needed.
5. Help residents with minor repairs.
6. Unclog commodes and sinks.
7. Move furniture in facility as needed.
8. Attend all in-service programs.
9. Perform related duties as assigned by the Director of Environmental Services.
10. Assist other departments when requested by supervisor.

11. Cleaning of resident rooms and common areas as assigned while maintaining resident’s privacy according to policy and HIPPA Rules.
12. Clean and store equipment after use.
13. Transports trash to proper disposal areas.
14. Monitors workplace for safety and fire hazards and reports to supervisor.
15. Monitors and reports evidence of rodents and pest to supervisor.
16. Ability to carry through with assigned task.
17. Demonstrates teamwork and prompt and regular attendance to provide care for the residents.
18. Clean furniture and flooring as assigned.
19. Communicate proficiently via telephone, computer and in person.
20. Practice Universal Precautions.
21. Encourage and monitor safe work practices.
22. Provide additional safety and oversight of residents as needed.
23. Facility is in operation 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. At times, this position may have to work outside their normal work hours to meet the needs of the facility.
24. Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
1. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations, to =customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
2. Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
Ability to perform these operations using unites of American money and weight measurements, volume and distance.
3. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
4. Ability to work days, nights and weekends.
5. General knowledge of painting, patching walls and repair.
6. General knowledge of power tools, floor cleaning machines and general maintenance equipment.
7. Self-motivated with time management abilities.
8. Professionalism.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1. Ability to lift 50-100 pounds.
2. Ability to bend, kneel, reach, climb and be on feet for 8 hours a day.
3. Ability to work in various conditions including hot, cold, around chemicals and blood.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/EXPOSURE TO ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
1. Work near moving mechanical parts, in high or precarious places.
2. Ability to work around fumes, airborne particles, blood borne pathogens, infectious disease, toxic or caustic chemicals occasionally.
