Position Overview:
The Trim Lead at Goldflower plays a pivotal role in the post-production process, overseeing all activities within the trim department. They are responsible for ensuring efficient and precise trimming and handling procedures, accurate record-keeping, and maintaining a controlled environment and well-organized trim room.
Responsibilities:
Trim Room Management:
- Implement and monitor all daily work within the trim room, ensuring tasks are carried out efficiently and in accordance with processing instructions for each batch.
- Maintain proper environmental conditions in the trim room, including temperature (65-68 degrees Fahrenheit) and humidity (50-60%).
Record Keeping and Documentation:
- Fill out all necessary daily paperwork to track production in the trim room, including Control Forms, Worksheets, Production logs, and Seed to Sale tracking information entered via the computer and other company documents.
- Record starting and final weights of cannabis material using the Trimming Control Forms and entering the daily activities into the Post Production Logbook.
- Record weights for cannabis production waste and by-products.
Quality Assurance:
- Ensure all trimming procedures are performed to meet quality standards, adhering to company guidelines and regulatory requirements.
- Implement strict quality control measures to maintain consistency in the trimming process, defining trim styles for various cultivars to highlight the desirable characteristics of the cannabis material.
- Perform daily quality assurance checks of the cannabis material and remediate cannabis material, when necessary, in accordance with company guidelines and processes.
Team Leadership and Training:
- Provide feedback on the performance of Cannabis Associates, offering constructive guidance and support to maintain high productivity and quality output.
- Train new hires on the daily operating procedures and techniques used in the trim room, promoting compliance with standard practices.
- Delegate daily and weekly cleaning tasks to Cannabis Associates, ensuring a clean and organized trim room environment.
Inventory Management:
- Monitor inventory levels for materials, consumables, and equipment used in the trim room to ensure a continuous supply for uninterrupted operations.
- Ensure all items in the trim room are stored properly, including the preparation and labeling of bags, containers, and totes used to store cannabis material.
- Participate in routine audits of the cannabis material, supplies and components used to create final goods.
- Utilize inventory management software to track and control inventory levels, ensuring accuracy and availability of materials.
- Manage digital records of inventory and packaging activities, maintaining up-to-date and accurate data.
GMP Compliance:
- Ensure all trimming activities comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards, maintaining a clean and controlled work environment.
- Implement and enforce GMP guidelines, including proper sanitation, equipment maintenance, and documentation.
- Train team members on GMP requirements and monitor compliance to ensure adherence to all standards.
Collaboration between Departments:
- Work closely with other departments to ensure smooth transitions and efficient operations throughout the post-production process.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in cannabis trimming and post-production management is essential.
- In-depth understanding of the cannabis industry, including knowledge of different strains, trimming techniques, and post-production processes.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues, analyze potential solutions, and implement effective corrective actions.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with a proven track record of managing and motivating a team to achieve high productivity and quality standards.
- Ability to lead by example, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment that encourages collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a focus on precision and consistency in trimming and record-keeping.
- Commitment to maintaining a clean, organized, and well-structured trim room environment.
- Proficiency in coordinating workflow and resources to optimize team performance and meet production goals.
- Excellent communication skills to convey special instructions effectively and provide feedback to team members.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cannabis associates and department leads in order to promote a positive and productive work environment.
- Flexibility to adjust plans and processes in response to changing priorities and business needs.
- Proficiency in using seed-to-sale tracking systems to ensure accurate and compliant tracking of cannabis from cultivation through post-production.
- Ability to input, update, and verify data in the seed-to-sale system to maintain precise records of cannabis material.
- Thorough understanding of state regulations governing cannabis production, including handling, storage, waste disposal, and product labeling.
- Strong commitment to regulatory compliance and adherence to company policies, with the ability to train and enforce compliance among team members.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the importance of maintaining the trim room environment at appropriate temperature and humidity levels for optimal cannabis material storage, and awareness of how fluctuations in temperature and humidity can impact the quality, potency, and preservation of cannabis products.
- Experience with using environmental monitoring tools and systems to track temperature and humidity levels in real-time.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Enterprise Resource Planning.
- Proficient in using Teams and Outlook for communication and scheduling, and Excel and Word for data analysis, creating reports, plans, and documentation.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics for managing inventory, performing audits, and tracking stock levels accurately.
Physical Requirements:
- Capable of sitting and standing for extended periods and performing trimming tasks.
- Ability to lift and move cannabis material and equipment, up to 40 lbs.
