ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
The Marshall Student Center is a 240,000 SF facility that serves as the living room of student life at USF and the gathering place for the campus. The center includes an 1100 seat ballroom, a 700 seat theater, 350 multipurpose room, and 22 other meeting/conference rooms. The MSC supports over 14,000 events annually and houses offices for Student Government, Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement, the Center for Student Involvement, New Student Connections, and the Office of Multicultural Affairs. USF Dining is housed in the building and oversees the food operation.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for cleaning and maintaining a safe and clean environment in all areas of the Marshall Student Center. Typical hours are 11:00 pm - 7:00 am, Monday through Friday with night and weekend responsibilities included.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists with the floor care of the Marshall Student Center to include stripping, waxing, shampooing, vacuuming, and buffing.
Cleans public restrooms in Marshall Student Center including sinks, mirrors, toilets, sanitary bins, light fixtures, faucets, floors, urinals, partitions, doors, and replenishing of supplies and materials in restrooms.
Cleans common areas and other spaces such as meeting rooms, lounges, classrooms, corridors, stairwells, offices, study areas, conference rooms, stairwell towers, dumpster enclosures, and elevators to include, furniture, windows, whiteboards, water fountains, trash receptacles, vending machines, computer equipment, carpets, hard tile, closets, supply areas, handrails, shelving units, light fixtures, and exterior.
Pulls trash/recycling bags from receptacles inside and outside the Marshall Student Center and carries bags/receptacles down stairwells, through buildings, and into exterior dumpster enclosures.
Vacuums carpeting in hallways, study lounges, offices, meeting rooms, retail spaces, offices, and common areas in the Marshall Student Center.
Moves furniture, supplies, and equipment in the Marshall Student Center offices, or supply areas, as needed. Assists with the cleaning of furniture in the Marshall Student Center including lounge furniture, event furniture, and food court seating. Performs other duties as assigned.
Assist with the floor care of the Marshall Student Center to include stripping, waxing, shampooing, vacuuming, and buffing.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires completion of the 9th grade. No specific experience required. A valid Florida Driver's License may be required if motorized vehicles of any kind are operated.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent, 6 continuous months experience in housekeeping/custodial services and equipment in an educational or residential setting. Experience with floor care of a high traffic conference center preferred. Basic computer skills.
SPECIAL SKILLS/TRAINING:
Able to use vacuums, brooms, dust rods, ride on scrubbers, buffers, strippers, micro-fiber tools, carts, mops, housekeeping carts, trash compactors, hand carts, blowers, dehumidifiers, personal protection equipment, chemicals, and chemical dispersing units.
