We are looking for a full-time housekeeping supervisor.
Reports To: Environmental Service Director/Executive Director
Status: Non-Exempt- Hourly
SUMMARY
The purpose of this position is to implement and maintain effective, efficient systems to operate the housekeeping department in a cost-effective, efficient manner to safely meet residents’ needs in compliance with federal, state and local requirements.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Clean equipment
· Clean floors
· Clean vacant rooms
· Clean walls/ceilings
· Clean windows/mirrors
· Clean, wash, sanitize, or polish bathroom fixtures
· Clean/polish furnishings, fixtures, ledges, heating/cooling units
· Deodorize/disinfect carpets
· Discard waste/trash
· Empty and sanitize ash trays
· Implement housekeeping monitoring system
· Maintain dry floors.
· Maintain floors safe and clear of obstructions (residents' belongings, supplies/equipment, etc.)
· Maintain/use chemicals safely
· Mop floors
· Perform housekeeping
· Perform terminal cleaning upon resident discharge
· Prepare room for new resident
· Remove dust, dirt, wax, grease, etc., from equipment/surfaces
· Report hazardous conditions/equipment to supervisor
· Report spills
· Sweep/dust floors
· Vacuum carpets
· Wash wheelchairs/walkers
· Distribute clean laundry to correct recipient
· Ensure adequate laundry supplies are available
· Fold clean laundry
· Launder soiled items
· Identify and report equipment malfunction
· Inspect work areas for safety, fire protection/prevention, upkeep, and supply control
· Observe and report garments or linens in poor repair
· Observe assigned areas for need to clean
· Report defective equipment to supervisor
· Report defective lights/bulbs to supervisor
· Report linen needs to supervisor
· Conduct positive public relations for facility
· Intervene and diffuse argument/hostile situation
· Maintain residents' privacy
· Make resident comfortable
· Resolve customer complaints
· Treat residents fairly, with kindness, dignity, and respect
· Understand residents' needs
· Clean, disinfect, and store equipment
· Operate/utilize cleaning chemicals
· Operate/utilize dryers
· Operate/utilize folding table
· Operate/utilize furniture polish
· Operate/utilize laundry solution dispensing system
· Operate/utilize laundry supplies
· Operate/utilize linen racks
· Operate/utilize masks, goggles, gloves, gowns
· Operate/utilize mops
· Operate/utilize vacuum cleaners
· Operate/utilize washing machines
· Report defective equipment to supervisor
· Request supplies as appropriate
· Select and operate appropriate equipment
· Select and utilize appropriate supplies
· Store tools/equipment/supplies
· Use equipment and supplies efficiently and in a cost-effective manner
· Ensure implementation of Residents' Rights
· Render immediate resident assistance
· Answer resident call lights
· Document incidents
· Utilize census report to properly distribute laundry
· Organize housekeeping records
· Maintain filter records (dryers)
· Report noted discrepancies to supervisor
· Assess employees' development needs
· Assign staff on shift to cover absences
· Assign work according to staffing guidelines, staff qualifications, and resident characteristics/needs
· Assist on-shift employees in problem resolution
· Communicate work standards/expectations
· Conduct employee effectiveness reviews
· Counsel subordinates on work performance or procedure violations
· Delegate administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability
· Develop work assignments
· Develop work schedules
· Enforce policies and procedures
· Ensure adequate staffing to meet resident needs
· Ensure appropriate personal protective equipment is available to, and used by, staff
· Ensure employees are qualified and medically fit to perform assigned tasks
· Ensure on-shift assignments are performed to meet residents' needs
· Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment
· Ensure staff receives required in-service training
· Ensure trainees are properly supervised
· Evaluate employee work performance
· Identify/report shift problem areas
· Make work assignments
· Monitor employee absences
· Orient new employees
· Provide leadership to assigned employees
· Reassign employees to meet business needs
· Report absentee calls
