Job Summary & Expectations:
The Housekeeper performs general cleaning duties in areas such as patient rooms, public areas, restrooms, offices, surgery, and clinical areas according to policies and procedures. Performs all other duties as assigned. Participates in performance improvement activities such as training sessions, online education modules, annual competencies, and the Environmental Services training course. Housekeepers are expected to maintain satisfactory scores on monthly cleaning inspections. Schedules are made out 3 weeks in advance, staff is expected to show up on time on the days scheduled. All staff is also required to maintain the culture to continuously improve patient and employee satisfaction.
Performs all assigned tasks in a professional manner in order to reflect the highest integrity of the Environmental Services Department.
Performs routine cleaning of patient rooms, nursing units, offices, clinical areas, waiting areas, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors in a clean, neat, and sanitary manner.
Completes work assignments in a timely manner.
Utilizes the appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure.
Uses wet floor signs while cleaning.
Uses and maintains equipment properly.
Assists visitors with directions whenever requested.
Always introduces self to patients, families and visitors.
Reports safety hazards as appropriate.
Transports trash and hazardous waste to appropriate disposal area.
Replenishes supplies.
Follows all infection control practices including hand hygiene techniques, standard precautions and isolation precautions.
Maintains set quality standards when performing job duties.
Works day, evening or night shift as assigned.
Ability to do work on his/her own with normal supervision.
Observes safety precautions at all times.
Regulatory Requirements:
- High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED).
- One to three (1-3) years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
- Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Additional languages preferred.
