JOB DESCRIPTION
An Ice Cream Maker is responsible for operating, cleaning, and providing general maintenance and upkeep for a variety of equipment. These functions include a variety of duties and responsibilities that are directly, or indirectly, linked to the safest production of the highest quality ice cream products possible.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Ensure the highest quality product by performing all required procedures, quality checks and documentation to meet specifications
- Operate and troubleshoot equipment
- Communicate with upstream and downstream operations to maintain process flow and prevent production disruptions
- Disassemble, clean/sanitize and reassemble all required equipment
- Set up, maintain, monitor, and adjust equipment as necessary to maintain product, quality, and safety specifications
- Conduct required quality checks on products.
- Communicate and interact with others in a manner consistent with the company's Grooves and "I Can Make a Difference" philosophies.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Ordering inventory from vendors and suppliers and securing shipment arrival times
- Managing inventory by stocking and cataloging products for a business
- Performing quality checks on stored inventory and discarding inventory that does not meet the company s standards
- Updating inventory count and maintaining inventory records to share with management and other stakeholders in the business
- Reporting discrepancies in inventory that indicate theft, such as too little inventory at last count
- Implementing loss prevention programs to prevent theft
- Obtaining estimates and price details from different vendors to compare costs
- Researching the accuracy of product details and testing new products
Work Environment:
In this position, the employee will regularly work with Owner and ice cream truck team members; in a wet and/or humid environment; in areas of high noise level; and around mechanical, electrical, and pressurized equipment. The work is fast-paced.
Job requirements:
- 18 years of age or older
- Aptitude for automated mechanical processes with good troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Ability to read and write legibly in English
- Work well with Google DOCS, Sheets,Calendar,Gmail
- Excellent interpersonal communication, math and problem solving skills
- Ability to work multiple shifts and/or schedules.
- High School diploma or GED
- One year related experience (preferred).
Job Responsibilities:
- Work in our kitchen location to create Polar Bros fresh ice cream pints and tubs for wholesale partners and clients Note: this role does NOT interact with the public; rather it is a small team working in our central kitchen facility
- Become highly skilled and efficient at churning fresh ice cream using our proprietary ice cream equipment technology
- Carefully follow production schedules and operations protocols
- Ensure pints are packed with ice cream that lives up to Polar Bros high quality taste and texture standards
- Work as a productive and responsive team member, who contributes positively to the PB culture
- Updating inventory daily and rotating products
- Cost outs/ menu writing

- Able to lift up to 40 lbs and stand at least 4 hours at a time

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
