This is service-maintenance work in performing and inspecting custodial services of public buildings and facilities. Work requires the knowledge of work routines and procedures used in custodial work which is learned on the job. Contacts with people require basic courtesy and tact. The custodial work is strictly routine, following specified instructions and established work routines involving similar situations. The work is performed inside and outside where there are some risk and hazards, but they are known, predictable, and controllable. Operates a motor vehicle, cleaning equipment and power tools and uses hazardous chemical. The physical demands consist of walking, standing, sitting, and bending, exposure to dust, dirt and other unpleasant conditions and moving and lifting cleaning equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. The work is performed under immediate supervision where the work assignments are subject to established procedures and routines.
- One year of experience performing custodial services and/or manual labor.
- Ability to read and write English.
- Physically able to move and lift cleaning equipment.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:
- Depending upon assignment, a valid driver’s license may be required prior to appointment and must be maintained.
- City of Jacksonville Certification as a Public Driver. depending on assignment, may be required and must be maintained.
- CPR and First Aid Certification is required within six months of appointment and must be maintained.
OTHER REQUREMENTS:
- This is a non-competitive class which does not require an examination for filling vacancies.
- The probationary period for this class is six (6) months.
- Depending upon assignment, must pass background screening on a local, state and federal level as required by the State of Florida Children and Family Services or Elder Affairs.
- This position performs safety-sensitive functions which are subject to pre-employment, random and other drug/alcohol testing programs as set forth in the City of Jacksonville’s Drug Free Workplace Policy (Directive 0401).
