eetings, as well as safety and other meetings, as directed by the facility manager. Depending on the task, the maintenance worker may be required to operate industrial cleaning equipment and machinery.
*Essential Functions and Responsibilities:*
* Perform routine cleaning tasks based on a schedule created by the facility manager.
* Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors before and after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.
* Clean school floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing or vacuuming them.
* Follow procedures for using chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
* Depending on the nature of the repair(s), making adjustments and minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilating, plumbing, and electrical systems.
* Develop and maintain a positive, professional rapport and appearance with students and parents, and co-workers.
* Repairs install, replace, and test electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances using hand tools and testing instruments to supply electrical power for lighting and equipment operation for the school.
* Inspects and tests electrical lighting, signal, communication, and power circuits and equipment
* Examines and tests such elements of systems as distribution panels, controls, circuit fixtures, and motors to locate obvious faults such as blown fuses, short circuits, broken wires, loose connections, and worn motors.
* Replaces faulty switches, sockets, plugs, fuses, insulators, and other simple elements of electrical systems, fixtures, and appliances
* Estimates quantities of materials needed
* Notify supervisors concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
* Ensure that all grounds equipment is maintained for safe and trouble-free operations, and make all necessary repairs and inspections
* Ensure that regular safety inspections of all playground equipment are completed and making the necessary repairs for its safe operation including a notation in the playground equipment logbook
* Use common sense to move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies if moving manually or by using hand trucks.
*Additional Duties and Responsibilities:*
* Assembles, installs, and connects components of switchboards and distribution panels and connects them to units controlled
* Mounts motors, transformer, lighting fixtures, or other equipment into position and completes circuits, according to diagram specifications
* May perform related work, such as recording time and materials expended on each work order; operating lathe, grinding, and polishing machines, on making finishing, and rebuilding parts of equipment, and performing minor carpentry, plastering, and painting in connection with repair work
* Set-up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metal-working tools to make and repair parts
* Keep records for equipment showing type, model number, date of installation, and extent of service
* Motor coordination is needed to coordinate eyes and fingers when using hand tools. Finger dexterity is needed when wiring and testing systems. Manual dexterity is needed to work with hands in replacing various components color discrimination is needed to differentiate wire colors in order to connect correct wires.
* A preference for things and objects is necessary to master techniques of installing and repairing electrical or mechanical systems and fixtures
* A preference for activities resulting in tangible satisfaction to detect and repair deficiencies in electrical or mechanical systems
* Empty and clean trash receptacles and collect recycling
* Report significant damages and repairs to the supervisor
* Performs other cleaning duties as needed and/or instructed by supervisor
* Adhere to the school's safety policies to create a safe work environment for everyone
* Participate in emergency drills and environmental safety activities, as requested
* Perform other duties as assigned to support AYA's Mission, Vision, and Values.
*Ability To:*
* Knowledge of machines and tools commonly used to perform custodial duties includes their uses, repair, and maintenance.
* Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in simple construction or repairs. (cordless drills, skill saw, jigsaw, reciprocating saw, etc.)
* Ability to handle a variety of changing duties resulting from the complexities of equipment
* Ability to work within limits and standards set by building codes and blueprints. Capable of working under emergency conditions.
* Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English, using proper grammar and vocabulary.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk and use hands to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 75 pounds. This job's specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
*Environmental Demands:*
This position works in various settings, including inside and outdoors, and may experience heat or cold extremes and fumes, odors, dust, and the noise level is moderate to loud.

* High school degree or GED.
* Two years of maintenance experience preferred.
* Must maintain at all times during employment an unrestricted motor vehicle operator's license and a satisfactory driving record that meets school policy requirements.
* Basic computer skills
* Teamwork mentality is strongly preferred.
