The role of Pool/Aquatics Technician performs inspections, maintenance and repairs of aquatic equipment and facilities including pools, splash pads, and water features. Tests and Maintains facility water quality as required by health codes and safety standards.
Coordinates and implements an annual preventative maintenance program by maintaining accurate maintenance records, including plans, specifications, maintenance manuals, water quality reports and preventative maintenance schedules. Inspects, monitors, maintains, and services swimming pool pumps, plumbing, motors, electrical systems, chemical feeders, chemical controllers, filtration systems, water chemistry, pool surfaces, and related equipment to always ensure proper operation of all swimming pools. Tests daily and treats water for public aquatic facilities including performing ongoing tests for chlorine, pH balance, calcium hardness, total dissolved solids (TDS) and total alkalinity; treating water with chemicals to maintain safe and healthy water quality; and monitoring chemical changes. Works closely with aquatic programming team to ensure smooth operation of facilities for aquatic events and programs. Ability to lift and/or move up to 80 pounds and push or pull heavy objects. Performs related work as required.
PHYSICAL SKILLS/WORKING CONDITIONS: Ability to lift and/or move up to 80 pounds and push or pull heavy objects. May use a handling device (dolly, cart, etc.) or work with another team member to lift and/or move excessively heavy objects. Ability to bend, stoop, and squat frequently. Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication. May require weekend, night, and holiday work.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma and three (3) years’ experience in operations, maintenance and repairing of public aquatic facilities.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS: Valid driver's license required. Candidates must pass a lifesaving test and possess valid American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and First-Aid certification. Lifeguard Instructor Certification is preferred.
