Do you have experience working with contractors and a background in the operations and maintenance of commercial buildings? As a Building Superintendent for the General Services Department, you will be providing professional property management services to assigned facilities and direct the work of your subordinate employees and contract workers. multiple countywide Sarasota County Buildings. Coordinate and inspect the work of internal staff and contractors.
Routinely conducts building and property exterior and interior inspections of county facilities for safety and appearance of grounds, buildings, and system service needs.
Submit, manage, investigate, and complete the work of all reports.
Respond to customer inquiries and complaints and meet with customers for schedule input on disruptive maintenance work.
Meet with contractors and prepare scope of work for quotes on operational work, i.e. floor cleaning, flooring replacement, parking lot maintenance/repair, elevator repairs, pressure washing, etc.
Assist with setting up public meetings, lower and raise flags per Presidential Proclamation, and replace flags due to wear and appearance.
Inspect and initial fire extinguishers as required by the Fire Code.
Assist in the removal of persons from elevator entrapment.
Perform skilled and physical labor, fill in for and/or work alongside trade workers.
Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
About You
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or its equivalent.
Four (4) years total of related experience with two (2) years of inspecting experience.
- OR - College or University level training in related fields may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required construction experience.
Valid Florida driver's license at the time of hire.
Physical Demands: Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
CJIS Clearance: **The successful candidate will be subject to an extensive background check(s) as a part of the hiring process.
Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails
to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.
About Everything Else
Starting Pay Range: $23.33 - $25.00
