Position Summary
The custodian is responsible for the cleanliness of the facility and create and maintain a safe and compliant healthcare environment; including but is not limited to resident rooms, common areas, main facility grounds.
Relationships and Contacts
Within the organization: Establish and maintain productive working relationships with peers and accounting team members throughout Silver Pines and affiliated facilities.
Outside the organization: Establish and maintain productive working relationships with third party vendors, as necessary.
Position Responsibilities
- Maintain floors in a clean state by sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, and waxing them
- Empty and clean trash receptacles and collect recycling
- Ability to handle complex situations while remaining compassionate about the clients
- Creative problem solving and good time management
- Clean, sanitize, and supply bathrooms
- Clean and service custodial equipment as needed
- Dusting and disinfecting all surfaces
- Shampooing rugs and carpets
- Report any safety, sanitary, or fire hazards to the appropriate department
- Maintain cleaning supplies (chemicals, mops, brooms, ect.)
- Inspect and clean air filters at specified frequencies
- Outside grounds care (cigarette cans, trash, garden beds)
- Furniture cleaning
- Laundry room cleaning
- Clean linen, towels and other client laundry as needed
- Ensure grounds and facility are clean and orderly
- Maintain paperwork required by state and other credentialing agencies, with support of supervisor
- Maintain a thorough inventory
- Perform appropriate seasonal maintenance and preventative procedures
- Work with other departments to create and ensure a client-centered, compassionate, and professional atmosphere
Additional Responsibilities
- Can be relied upon to be at work as scheduled and is rarely absent from work, notifying the supervisor if absent.
- Reads, understands, and adheres to all company policy statements on ethics, conduct, and conflict of interests.
- Adheres to facility policies, procedures, rules, and regulations, implementing regularly.
- Attention to detail

Minimum Requirements
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalency required. 1 year of janitorial experience preferred and the ability to work independently and multi-task. Current CPR/First Aid Certification. Requires valid Driver’s License, vehicle liability coverage and acceptable driving record.
Physical Requirements
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to communicate with peers/public, clients and/or vendors.
- Tolerant to various noise levels: noise level in the work environment varies – may be very quiet to moderate.
- Job performance will require the ability to move throughout the building as well as sit or remain stationary for extended periods of time.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to talk or hear, sit, stand, walk, reach, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, taste, or smell.
- Ability to move up to 50 pounds.
