General Description
The purpose of this job is to clean and maintain County facilities. This position works under close supervision according to set procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.
- Sweeps, mops and dusts offices
- Cleans and disinfects restrooms in County buildings; replenishes paper supplies and soap as necessary; cleans clogged drains in sinks and toilets.
- Sweeps, strips, waxes, buffs, mops and vacuums floor surfaces; cleans carpets.
- Cleans windows, walls, woodwork and light fixtures.
- Performs landscaping maintenance duties such as picking up trash, raking and bagging leaves at facility entrances; removes trash and recycling from buildings and parking lots.
- Picks up and delivers supplies.
- Responds to emergency cleanups such as spills.
- Performs minor repairs to equipment and furniture as needed.
- Raises, lowers, and replaces flags at County offices, buildings, and facilities.
- Moves furniture and assists with set-up for meetings and events.
- Rakes and bags leaves at facility entrances.
- Deliver and Pick up mail
- Removes snow from sidewalks and entrances and spreads sand, cinders and melting agents on icy walkways and parking lots.
- Performs related work as required.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Requires some experience in the maintenance and cleaning of offices and/or buildings.
Physical Demands:
Performs light to medium work that involves walking or standing virtually all of the time and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or considerable skill, adeptness and speed in the use of the fingers, hands or limbs in tasks involving close tolerances or limits of accuracy.
Unavoidable Hazards (Work Environment)
Involves routine and frequent exposure to:
- Bright/dim light; Dusts and pollen.
- Extreme heat and/or cold; Wet or humid conditions.
- Extreme noise levels, Animals/wildlife.
- Vibration; Fumes and/or noxious odors.
Special Certifications and Licenses
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
