SUMMARY
The Sanitation Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the sanitation team to ensure production areas are thoroughly cleaned and ready on time for pre-op approval and supporting daily production operations. This role is responsible for overseeing all cleaning activities at one facility and supervising contract sanitation at a nearby second facility. In addition to managing housekeeping associates at both locations.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a sanitation role within the food manufacturing industry with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial position.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Must have working knowledge of GMP’s, SOP’s, SSOP’s and MSS.
- Knowledge of quality auditing, food safety and food quality standards (SQF) a plus.
- Proven expertise in use of industrial cleaning chemicals, titration ratios, record keeping, chemical storage, safety data, and Hazmat measures and management.
- Ability to work with people of different experiences and educational backgrounds.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee daily operations of the sanitation department.
- Ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time, with documentation complying with company, regulatory and SQF requirements.
- Plan and establish work schedules and assignments to meet production goals.
- Maintain hourly personnel records on departmental associates.
- Ensure the safe operation of the sanitation shift.
- Complies with, understands, and enforces all company policies and standards.
- Train associates in safe and proper housekeeping and sanitation procedures; planning, assigning, and directing work; rewarding and disciplining associates; resolving problems.
- Maintain communication links with other departments to ensure proper business needs are addressed.
- Maintain communication links between plants and chemical suppliers.
- Ensure that sanitation and housekeeping associates follow established cleaning procedures as required by the company and regulatory agencies.
- Inventory ordering, receiving and storage allocation of general plant and sanitation related products.
- Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise and train the sanitation team.
- Control sanitation expenses.
