Visitation Catholic Parish in Miami, Florida has an open part-time position for a Light Maintenance and Custodial Worker. This position is responsible for the execution of tasks, that support the operations, maintenance, repair, and improvement of the grounds, facilities, and related equipment of all properties of Visitation Catholic Parish. The candidate performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami.

Essential Functions:

Performs work in the maintenance, care, and modification of parish grounds, buildings, and equipment.
Performs a variety of basic directed janitorial assignments.
Performs daily functions including but not limited to changing light bulbs, painting walls, woodwork, furniture, and equipment, making minor carpentry, plumbing, and electrical repairs, delivering supplies, materials, and equipment as needed, helping with events held at the parish, and running custodial services as needed.
Performs routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and to prevent deterioration of buildings/structures.
Cleans air-conditioning systems and changes filters monthly or according to a determined schedule.
Prepares and breaks down meeting and event rooms and areas by arranging furniture and equipment according to specifications.
Keeps facilities and ground clean, safe, and orderly through regularly scheduled custodial and maintenance duties. Performs lawn and garden maintenance as needed.

Qualifications:

High-school diploma or G.E.D.; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Technical or trade school coursework in building technology and/or HVAC a plus.
Basic knowledge and skills in some of the building trades; knowledge of construction, roofing a plus.
Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in constructing or repairing houses, buildings, or other structures.
Must be proactive with maintenance needs and work with maintenance schedules.
Must be able to bend, climb stairs, and lift and move heavy (up to 25 pounds) objects, such as furniture, props, portable stages, scaffolding, and chairs/tables carts.
Good time management skills, including the ability to manage several projects at the same time.
Basic PC skills required to navigate the Windows OS, enter data into the system, and perform e-mail functions in MS Outlook.
Good oral and written English and Spanish language communication skills.
Supportive of the mission and tenets of the Roman Catholic Church. Experience in a Roman Catholic environment is preferred.
Must have a pleasant, service-oriented demeanor.
