The Victoria Inn is looking to expand our Housekeeping Department. We need hard working individuals with an attention for detail. Our Housekeeping staff has direct contact with our guests and we are in need of those that are people oriented and hardworking!

Laundry Attendant is responsible for:

Communicate with the Housekeeping Supervisor.
To load and unload washer and dryer machines as appropriate.
Load articles into washer and dryers adding specified amount of detergent, soap, or another cleaning agent.
Sorts linens, separate and treats all stains.
Checking items before washing for damage or stains
Lifts clean, wet articles from washer and places them successively into dryers for measured time dry cycles.
Sorts dried articles folding and placing in appropriate location according to type.
Sort out and remove stained, torn, frayed, or unsightly linen and terry.
Using water and chemicals to remove stains before processing.
Works with and supports others as part of a team both within and across functions.
Concerned with maintaining standards of accuracy and quality.
Gathers and launders soiled linens from rooms.
Maintain laundry area in a clean and orderly manner.
Maintain housekeeping and customer service standards by ensuring that towels, sheets, and linens are cleaned, ironed (if necessary)
Respond to guest service issues in a timely, friendly, and efficient manner.
Maintains all laundry equipment and informs appropriate personnel of any maintenance needs.
Maintain professionalism at all times.
Attention to detail.
Maintaining a positive attitude.

Applicants must be able to work mornings, weekends and holidays.

Additional duties as assigned may include; vacuuming and cleaning the common area, and possibly other duties as needed at various times of the year.

Previous work in a laundry before a plus, but not required. There is no required work experience, however a basic understanding of cleaning, use of cleaning chemicals is preferred.

Must have reliable transportation.

Experience working with laundry equipment considered a plus.

Must have schedule flexibility for both weekends and holidays.

Must work Sundays and other days as needed.

Must be able to tolerate warm temperatures and stand for extended periods of time with accumulations of lint.

Must be physically fit and able to work on your feet for an 8-hour shift

Must be able to exert physical effort, endure various physical movements throughout the work areas, reach up and down, remain stationary at times throughout work periods, and satisfactorily communicate with guests and co-workers to their understanding.

Excellent oral and written communication skills to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and interact effectively with co-workers, supervisors, and guests.

Ability to assist co-workers with their job duties and be a team player.

Must be able to consistently lift, pull, and push heavy weight (75 pounds or more)

Preferred 1 year experience cleaning 15+ rooms in hotels or hospitals. Not required.

The ability to communicate in English is preferred.

A successful candidate must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Bilingual preferred
