Scope & Purpose of Position:

South Park Inn’s Custodian is primarily responsible for the overall cleaning of the facility. The custodian also participates in providing necessary follow-up and corrective action with respect to the outcomes of monitoring visits.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:[1]

· At the direction of the Maintenance Director, develop and implement a cleaning schedule maintenance schedule to monitor and safeguard sanitary conditions of South Park Inn, an historical building providing congregate shelter services.

· Monitor cleaning and maintenance supplies and tools. Notify the Director of Maintenance when supplies are needed.

· Perform routine maintenance, light repairs, janitorial duties, and seasonal cleaning.

· Assist with implementation of bed bugs prevention and remediation procedures.

· Perform regular inspection of buildings and grounds, identify, address items in need of maintenance, and repair. Mow lawn and perform basic landscaping tasks.

· Coordinate with staff and assist in assuring that the building and grounds are clean, tidy, and well kept. Remove any debris and report to Director of Maintenance or the Operations Manager any imminent safety hazards.

· Attends all required meetings, supervisions, and staff trainings as identified by Director of Maintenance or the Operations Manager.

· Completes other tasks as assigned by the Director of Maintenance or the Operations Manager.

· Models positive, constructive strategies of client engagement and staff interactions.

· Advocates for the mission of the organization and upholds agency values.

Qualifications:

· High school or equivalent credential. Vocational training, trade certification, and/or prior experience as a general contractor a plus.

· OSHA certification required within two weeks of hire.

· Prior experience in facilities maintenance, including janitorial duties, routine building maintenance, landscaping, and minor repairs.

· Basic working knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems.

· Familiarity with fire and building codes and kitchen and health inspection guidelines. Familiarity with requirements of historical building preservation a plus.

· Experience using hand and electrical tools.

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to communicate effectively with clients, volunteers, and staff.

· Available for after-hours emergencies.
