JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: VOCATIONAL TRAINER II/
JANITOR-BUCKMAN SPRINGS REST AREA

REPORTING UNIT: WORK SERVICES DIRECTOR
SALARY RANGE: RANGE IV-HOURLY ($16.74-$21.36 DOE)
PAY UNIT: TWICE MONTHLY
HOURS: PART-TIME; MONDAY-SUNDAY (DAYS WILL
ROTATE) AND VARIED SHIFTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. Prior experience in combination of the following areas: grounds care, maintenance, production, janitorial.

2. Valid California Driver’s license, proof of auto insurance coverage and clean driving record.

3. Must maintain reliable transportation available to work.
4. Treat all others with respect and dignity.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Cleans and services restrooms.
2. Perform janitorial work to include, sweeping, mopping, restroom cleaning, high cleaning, scrubbing of floors, etc., at a rest area site.
3. Makes rounds of buildings and grounds at regular intervals; inspects doors, windows, and locks to see that they are properly and securely fastened.
4. Maintains janitorial supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed janitorial supplies; placing orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.

5. Scrubs, strips, sanitizes, waxes, and buffs floors using powered machines.
6. Washes walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, mirrors, and fixtures.
7. Cleans grounds and parking lots of litter, glass, or other debris.
8. Perform ground maintenance including cleaning of sidewalks, mowing small areas of grass, trimming shrubs, etc.,
9. Ensures quality control by inspecting work in progress and upon completion.
10. Determines appropriate cleaning materials, supplies, tools, and equipment needed to accomplish job.
11. Observes appearances and conditions of premises and equipment; reports needed repairs, safety hazards, or conditions requiring services to contractor and agency compliance coordinator.

12. Maintain safe working condition at work sites, in accordance with WTC and Caltrans safety program.

13. Responsible for cleaning minor vandalism.
14. Other duties as assigned.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS/TESTING

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of standard methods, practices, tools, and equipment of the janitorial service.
Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety rules.
Knowledge of the proper use of chemicals, and supplies.
Ability to follow instructions.
Ability to operate and use janitorial tools, equipment, and supplies such as floor buffers, vacuum cleaners, and cleaning compounds and solutions.
Ability to maintain cleaning equipment and supplies.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear.
The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee frequently must squat, stoop or kneel, reach about the head and reach forward.
The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp tools and climbs on to ladders.
The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person while performing the duties of this job.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds such as cleaning supplies, pails and unloading trucks.
The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as tables, bleachers, scrubbing machines.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
