Cleaners will provide a clean and safe environment for all visitors and employees and will ensure all fruit entering the facility is in contact with a maintained surface. Cleaners are responsible to clean and sanitize machines in the facility, according to procedures and schedules outlined in the Quality Manual. This includes extensive walking of the production facility and maneuvering within and around equipment to complete sweeping, dusting, dust mopping, trash removal, restroom cleaning and other duties.

Cleaning must be completed in accordance with legal, safety and customer standards, as well as all guidelines in the Employee Handbook. Cleaners may be reassigned to other areas of production. This role is critical to Empire Fruit Grower’s purpose of providing high quality fruit to our customers.

Responsibilities:

Complete all cleaning tasks in compliance with the Quality Manual
Clean, stock and supply designated areas (sweeping, dusting, mopping, etc.)
Daily washdown of main production line (including brush bed) and weekly washdown of wet area and drains
Ensure a clean, safe environment for all visitors, employees and products

Communicate effectively with coworkers to ensure efficient production
Assist in lifting, carrying and moving heavy loads as required
Ability to work in a fast paced, quickly changing and evolving work environment
Willingness to learn new tasks and support Apple Packers, Box Makers, Apple Stackers and Quality Control, as requested
Adhere to all food safety requirements, which are trained at orientation and throughout the season
Complete other duties, as assigned

Qualifications:

Required:

Sharp attention to detail
Able to stand for long periods of time
Able to withstand hot and cool temperatures in the production area
Physically able to lift, carry and move up to 40 lbs.
Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision
Flexibility to work overtime and weekends, as required
Compliance with all policies detailed in the Employee Handbook

Preferred:

Prior experience in a production setting
Familiar with production equipment and machinery
Knowledge of quality assurance practices
