Rate: $13 - $15

City of Fort Meade is currently seeking a reliable and dedicated individual to join our team as a part time Custodian. As a custodian, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation standards of our facilities, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for our staff and visitors.

Responsibilities:

Perform cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming floors.
Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and mirrors.
Deodorize, refresh bathrooms, hallways and main entrances
Perform drying of the entryway floors when needed or after rain
Sanitize handrails, doorhandles and common touch points
Empty trash and recycling receptacles and replace liners.
Place trash and recycling into outside curbside receptacles
Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors.
Replenish restroom and cleaning supplies as needed.
Assist with the setup and breakdown of events or meetings.
Notify management of any maintenance or repair needs.
Assist with other departments as necessary
Restocks water in office coolers
Maintains all walkways around City Hall and Building Department
Completes weekly walk through of all rooms to check for light bulb outages and replaces as needed
Walks City Hall and Building department weekly to review and report as needed any maintenance problems
Ability to keep an organized record of cleaning supply inventory and orders supplies as needed
Assist with special functions, meetings or holiday events as City Manager request
Maintaining janitorial equipment
Familiarization with the operation of janitorial equipment

Requirements:

Proven experience as a custodian or cleaner preferred.
Attention to detail
Friendly and personable
Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and carpet cleaners.
Physical stamina to perform janitorial duties including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Lifting, carrying, pushing and or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials up to 60LBS.
Squatting periodically
Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
Good communication skills.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
